Individual Mini-Workshops
Mere intellectual knowledge of cultural habits may not be sufficient. It might be more helpful to practice certain behaviours so that they will emerge automatically in the appropriate situation. This can be achieved through role-plays where you actually try key elements and transfer the necessary reactions directly into your nervous system.
This type of practice may include acquiring some basic language skills. It only takes a few days or even hours to learn life-saving politeness formulas, pronounce names properly, read signs (in case of familiar letters), and acquire other rapport-building and very useful linguistic aptitudes.
